apps.finance.jhu.edu/depts/cost/ra/2021-2023_FA_and_2021_Fringe_Benefit_Rate_Agreement.pdf installation and administration costs, also known as indirect costs, are the costs borne by the university`s general enterprise when carrying out a sponsored project. Research and development rates are expressed as a percentage of direct costs. The applicable rate used for a sponsored project is determined by several factors, including the type of activity, the location of the campus and sponsorship requirements. For more information on the courses of R and D, see below. The indirect rates of indirect and incidental costs listed above will continue until a new collective agreement is awarded. Training sponsorships are defined as teaching and training activities at the JHU, funded by grants and contracts from federal and non-federal sponsors. Training sponsorships include agreements that support the development of curricula and all kinds of teaching and training activities, whether available for credit with a diploma or certificate of non-credit, by regular university departments or by separate departments, summer schools or external departments. All proposals funded by the Confederation should be submitted with the rates below. All rates are based on the MTDC. Note that the first USD 25,000 per outsource per project period is included in the Facilities and Management cost base. (Amounts above $25,000 of any subcontracting are excluded from the base.) Uniform Guidance describes the 3 types of activities that can take place with a sponsored prize: organised research, training or other sponsored activities. Each type of activity has its own research and development course. Please use the following estimated additional benefit rates for grant and contract applications: JHU negotiates with the Confederation of Administrative Facilities and Rates (F-A, also known as indirect cost rates) and Fringe Benefit Conseil.

These rates are formalized in the College and Universities Rate Agreement. The date of our last negotiation agreement is June 6, 2019. A copy of the letter of agreement is published on the Office of the Comptroller`s website on off-campus rates, which can only be used in relation to university members for a project. The project work of non-university staff is done by subcontracting to another institution that takes over the F-A campus for the first 25,000 U.S. dollars, or by a consulting agreement that uses the entire research and development for the entire amount. For NIH MODULAR APPLICATIONS, the candidate is not required to submit detailed budget information in the application. Instead of standard budget forms, the applicant asks for the total direct cost for each year of the grant requested.
